My passion for teaching began at the age of 16 when I became a martial arts instructor for children aged 5+. Seeing these youngsters progress and achieve their grades gave me a huge sense of pride and helped me to see that the skills I had could be passed onto others. Over the next 5 years I continued teaching whilst completing my College education and Degree.

In 2007, having spent several years working as a Training Account Manager, sat in an office dealing with customer enquiries and training requests, I handed my notice in and 2 weeks later began my teacher training, a decision that changed my life. Since qualifying as a teacher I have delivered on many programmes, from Employability, Maths and English through to Degree level Business Management. My varied subject delivery and experience in teaching individuals aged 5 – 65 has given me a great insight into how people develop and learn within the education system.

After joining TwentyTwenty as Functional Skills teacher for the Derby Lifeskills Centre in 2015, I have had the pleasure of working alongside a fantastic team of individuals.  In early 2017, I moved on to become the Centre Manager for the Leicester centre.  Within this role I am able to support a team of dedicated individuals with one common goal, supporting our young people for a brighter future.

As Thomas Jefferson once said “If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
