In 2017 we’re implementing a three year development plan with support from Impetus-PEF which, working within a robust performance management and monitoring framework, will help us learn more about the impact of our model on the life chances of some of the most hard to reach young people. We’ve recently recruited an Impact Analyst and we have invested in the development of our own SQL database which will help us to develop a strong bank of data and evidence that will help us deliver a powerful and impactful model.

We have also developed the Journey to Work framework which was designed in consultation with our staff, volunteers, young people and more than 30 local businesses and other stakeholders. This competencies and skills framework sets out what our young people really need, in addition to good qualifications, to secure a successful and rewarding career.

It’s crucial that we focus on refining and delivering a quality model but we also want to work with more young people in more locations. Over the three year period we have also secured funding to open two new centres and deliver a wider programme that will increase the number of young people that we support through the Journey to Work from just over 200 to more than 480 young people every year. We also aim to increase the percentage of young people we support into work to more than 60%. Crucially we will understand exactly what elements of the model lead to this change so that it is sustainable, scaleable and replicable.

Our strong partnership work with key funders (e.g. Big Lottery, Careers and Enterprise Company), partners (e.g. YMCA, Prince's Trust), policy makers and strategic organisations (e.g. DWP, Centre for Social Justice, Impetus-PEF) means that we are able to contribute our learning at a wider strategic and policy level. We thrive upon learning about what works best for young people and sharing that learning as widely as possible.
